But other, less obvious risks may pose even an greater potential threat. This Salon looks at enterprise climate risk through the lens of two executives who headed sustainability at global leaders in the technology and beverage industries.
Amanda spent many years as an executive in the tech sector for companies such as Splunk and Apple before founding an online marketplace to provide economic empowerment for women in the developing world. As founder and CEO of Plan C Advisors, she is circling back to her early career in energy strategy and renewables. Background Amanda is Founder and CEO of Plan C Advisors. She also advisors founders of innovative climate-related start ups. Amanda has extensive executive, board, and advisory experience with organizations promoting clean energy and a sustainable world. Deep background in branding and positioning, go to market strategy, business development, and opportunity identification. Skilled at guiding organizations through key inflection points. She founded and led Artisan Connect, an online marketplace working with 30 artisan groups in 16 countries, to provide economic empowerment for women. Previously, she led marketing teams for fast growth B2B and B2C technology industry leaders including Splunk and Apple and served as President/Managing Partner for two preeminent digital branding agencies.
Trisa served at Dell Computer for twenty years in roles including SVP and Chief Responsibility Officer. Trisa is an experienced business leader, speaker, strategic advisor, and board member with a strong history of leadership and strategy development in the technology industry. She brings deep knowledge of corporate risk analysis and risk mitigation plans. She is a passionate leader on sustainability, strategic philanthropy, and entrepreneurship. Trisa began her career as partner at the law firm Seyfarth, Shaw in Washington DC.
Dan is a leading scholar and consultant on business and environmental sustainability. Dan is an Associate Professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he leads the Center for Energy, Development, and the Global Environment (EDGE). He has worked with leading companies and organizations including Google, Walmart, Nike, Duke Energy, General Motors, Shell, FedEx, World Wildlife Fund, Business for Social Responsibility, and the UN Global Compact. Prior to joining Duke, Dan led the Global Water Initiative at Coca Cola. He founded the Company’s Community Water Partnerships program resulting in over 500 public-private partnerships in 90+ countries and designed a new methodology for measuring business risks across Coca-Cola’s global manufacturing facilities. He is the founder of the Global Water Challenge, a multi-partner organization for innovative water and sanitation initiatives. Dan was trained as a cultural anthropologist, with extensive research experience in India and Nepal.
