She brings 20+ years of multi-segment expertise across B2B and B2C, including insurance, fashion, branding, marketing, retail and technology for both clinical and consumer markets. Kate leverages leadership as President and CMO to ensure optimal teams are driving domestic and global growth, business modernization, financial strategy, product development, marketing, sales, and market and brand management. She is qualified to advise CEOs and boards on establishing market leadership, growth, and expansion, utilizing solid judgment on strategy options, organizational design, M&A opportunities, and business transformation. As President of VSP Vision Care, the largest worldwide vision benefits company, Kate is accountable for vision care and insurance programs covering 90M+ members, delivering vision care to 56% of Fortune 500 companies. In this role, she has doubled direct-to-consumer business – from $80M to $164M (2018) – through strategic initiatives, increased advertising and digital investments, consumer segmentation, data analysis, and shifting the traditional call center to be a sales channel. Additionally, Kate has increased covered members by 6M (16%) and grew annual revenues by $750M since 2015 by shifting internal culture to be more fiscally responsible and lowering operating SG&A, while reallocating resources to growth initiatives. She developed a strategic partnership with Luxottica, the parent company of LensCrafters and Pearle, and established reseller agreements with national resellers, such as MetLife and Guardian, totaling $783M, with double-digit growth for the past three years. Kate is the first female President of all VSP Global companies, and has been recognized as one of the Optical Industry’s Most Influential Women. She attends numerous VSP Board meetings annually, four annual Board Committee Meetings each year, including Finance and Audit Committees, and serves as Executive Liaison for the VSP Board’s Insurance and Marketplace Committee. Kate reports to and engages the VSP Board on state of the business, to company strategy, enterprise risk, M&A, financial planning and forecasting. Earlier, as EVP & Chief Marketing Officer of VSP Global, Kate was key in the integration of VSP’s $750M acquisition of global eyewear company Marchon, allowing VSP to become more vertically integrated and providing a 100-country global footprint, securing the supply chain. She joined the company in 1992 as a research analyst within the sales team when VSP was nearly $300M in revenues and operating in three states. Kate built VSP’s first marketing function, which grew to be the team responsible for enterprise/corporate-level marketing strategies and programs, creative and design services, corporate communications, implementing marketing technology, and several company-wide rebranding initiatives. Kate has served as a director for various corporate and nonprofit organizations. As Board Director for DITTO, an eCommerce company with proprietary, patented 3D virtual eyewear try-on technology, she advised on strategy and deployment of technology to both consumers and providers using the technology in their offices. Kate’s nonprofit board service includes Northern California Make-A-Wish and National Prevent Blindness. Kate earned a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from University of California, Davis. In addition to being named one of the Optical Industry’s Most Influential Women, she has been recognized as one of Vision Monday’s 40 Under 40, and is a member of the Harvard Business School Global Leadership Program and is a C200 Member. A Learning Circle is an opportunity to connect with a small group of other Athena members in a focused yet casual setting, creating accountability around targeted learning to assist you in achieving your goals. Over the course of 6 sessions, club members will meet every 2 weeks to participate in an organic, peer-led discussion of the session's "chapters" consisting of 1-2 Athena salons which are to be reviewed on your own prior to the group session. When joining, members are committing to completing all 6 sessions.
Typically led by one of Athena's coaches, networking events provide members an opportunity to meet one another in a smaller intimate and virtual setting.
